The devs *did* end up adding the pause feature when opening the menu, but this does not fix the rushed dialogue, shopping, or cut scene aspect. Even *if* there was no way to manually pause the game, how did they think it was a good idea to let time progress during NPC dialogue, shopping, and cut scenes? Now players feel rushed to get through dialogue and buying items in the fear that the day is ticking away, and if its later at night you can even pass out doing so. However, pausing a game, even a slow-paced RPG, is crucial for people who need to look away from their device for whatever the reason may be. The devs said that because the game “feels so relaxed” and “days are so long” that there was no need for a pause feature. In the discord with the devs, people began voicing their concerns with this almost immediately. Opening the inventory/menu did not pause the game, talking to NPCs did not pause it, buying items didn’t pause it, and cut scenes didn’t pause time either. Initially, there was no pausing the game at all. Even ignoring this, there are crucial elements of gameplay and mechanics that just aren’t present at all. Even in character creation, some of the races are missing entirely and customizations felt seriously lacking. I downloaded this game the very minute it was released and could tell almost immediately that this game is nowhere near finished and is missing so much of what was promised.

The devs promised that the early access label was something they decided to add on last minute, that no major game elements were changed or delayed due to this label- just that they want fans to know they will continue adding even more later game content and additional story. However, the initial release was postponed, and the delayed release was then changed to early access. With their amazing success on Kickstarter and a huge fan base already built before the game even released, the hype for Sun Haven was pretty massive.Īfter the Kickstarter campaign was fully funded (and plenty more was raised), the devs began to tease some amazing gameplay elements, characters, and story lines. As a Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon, and general RPG lover- this game seemed to have everything I could have ever wanted and more- a classic farming sim with a magical adventure twist. Sun Haven is a game that I have been looking forward to for months.
